Dear Jay and Joe -

I'm sure you've seen the footage on the news, but thought I'd give you an update on the flooding caused by a breach in a retaining wall just east of existing homes off of Oakland.  I'm also attaching a few photos to give you an idea of the damage.

I spoke with several neighbors, and they said that the wall breached at 2 a.m. Sunday morning, flooding several homes, carrying a very large shed across two yards, busting out another wall, and causing extensive property and landscaping damage.  This wall is part of Bob Keeran's development east of our home.  When it began raining again on Sunday, neighbors informed me the Keeran broke the retaining wall in another section to prevent another burst; this caused additional flooding and damage to the new homes under development just east of our home.  We've also become aware the the homes in this new development do not have drainage holes in their back walls, so the water in the yards of those homes is ponding, creating another potential hazard that could cause flooding if we get another downpour.

One of the neighbors in the cul-de-sac directly affected by the flooding, Eric Griego, asked for NENA's involvement in addressing the damage and its cause.  Mr. Griego also plans to attend the City Council meeting tonight.
