Brief Minutes of the 8/15/07 District 4 Coalition
Meeting

The guest speaker from Argus Development was unable to attend. He will be
at the next meeting. Argus is the working with the Del Rey folks to develop
the trailer park site and to provide either affordable homes or let the
residents stay in their trailer homes on special lots in the new
development. Del Rey residents and the city are quite pleased with the
Argus folks who have been very supportive and are doing all the planning etc
at no cost to the residents. Looks like this one may be a winner

Pres. Ron Sissel noted that Southland Corp. would like to come to our D4
meeting and make a presentation. They are the Westland developer. We have
NO idea why they want to meet with D4.

Councilman Brad Winter mentioned the Eldorado vandalism and noted that the
damage will amount to around $1200. The vandals/parents will have to pay.
Additional penalties may be applied. Brad also noted that the council has
deferred creating an independent hearing office to deal with complaints by
red light runners (camera at intersections). Brad and a Police Sgt. from
the sub-station discussed the Police policy regarding stopping suspected
aliens and cooperation with immigration. The current version of the policy
prohibits police from stopping and questioning suspected aliens If,
however, they are investigating a crime, then police are allowed to question
alien status and contact immigration.

The League of Women Voters is being asked to organize a debate between Brad
Winter and his opponent. Time and place are not available yet

Several neighborhoods reported an increase in vandalism and theft in the
recent past. (car windows broken, car theft, graffiti etc.) This seems to
happen each year around the start of the school year.

Vinyard Estates noted that they are experiencing an increase in young
couples with children moving in. NorEste is experiencing the same change.
Both NAs are pleased although it will impact elementary school crowding.

Adjourned at 8:50 PM

Respectfully submitted

Joe Yardumian, NorEste rep to D4
