Coalition members, at the March meeting Irene read my requests and one was about the change to the zone code and variances.  Well It looks like EPC will be taking this issue up at the April meeting.  If you have not had a chance to read this Ordinance you can find it at our website www.d4c-abq.info and click Neighborhood Alerts at the top of the home page.  You can also fine Councilor Harris' Neighborhood Association Ordinance at the same place.  His ordinance has been deferred to the April 4 Council meeting.

I believe that this change to the variance zone code could allow more residential treatment homes to increase their occupancy with little or no notice or thought to the neighborhoods they are in.  The only way we were able to stop in home in my neighborhood from increasing was because of the variance code that is in place now.  With the changes that Councilor Benton is wanting the residential treatment homes will have no trouble increasing their charges.

My Association will be writing a letter to the EPC stating our objections to this change.  I ask that each member take this issue to your Associations and take about with your Board or General memberships.  I do not know if there is time to have the Coalition weight in on this.

Please review the Ordinance and make your opinions known.
