Dear Leilani,
            
This morning we discovered that our neighborhood mail delivery/collection box at the east end of Morris Rippel had been broken into, and several neighbors’ mail was stolen.  

In the course of reporting the theft, we learned that at least one other mailbox has been broken into within the past 10 days.  The Academy Station Post Office has assigned a Postal Inspector to investigate and arrange for repairs to our box.

In the meantime, please pass along the following mail theft prevention tips to our NENA members (courtesy of http://www.usps.com/postalinspectors/mailthft.htm): 

1) Pick up your mail promptly after delivery. Don’t leave it in your mailbox overnight.
2) Don’t send cash in the mail. 
3) Ask your bank for “secure” checks that can’t be altered. 
4) Tell your post office when you’ll be out of town, so they can hold your mail until you return.
