THIS EMAIL IS BEING SENT ON BEHALF OF THE CITY OF ALBUQUERQUE.

 

 

On Thursday, April 12, 2007, a Public Advisory Committee meeting for North
Domingo Baca Park was held at the Covenant United Methodist Church. The
purpose of the meeting was to present refined design concepts for Phase 5 of
the project - AREAS OF PLAY. Colleen Frenz, Division Manager for the
Department of Municipal Development and Chris Green, Consensus Planning,
made the presentation.  

 

Chris Green presented the concept for Phase 5, which is to include
approximately 12 acres of improvements north of the recently completed box
culvert, along Corona Avenue. The improvements are to include a lighted
modular skate park, children's play area(s) and picnic facilities, off-leash
dog exercise area, permanent off-street parking along Corona, and temporary
parking along Wyoming for park use and park and ride service. Attached for
your review is a PDF of the presentation that was given at the meeting, and
includes the graphics that were presented at the meeting.

 

Based on the current available funding ($1.6 million) we have proceeded on
the design of the parking lot and off-leash dog exercise area (approximately
5 acres). The parking lot will be lighted and the dog exercise area will
also include observation lighting. Final construction documents will be
ready in mid-September, and construction will begin in October and should be
complete before the end of the year. Final design for the children's play
area and modular skate park will occur this fall, with construction of those
features anticipated to begin in Spring 2008 (pending voter approval of the
Bond program). A PAC meeting will be scheduled for mid-October to present
options for the play area and skate area. PAC members will be notified via
email with information on the date, time and location of this meeting.
