<DIV dir=ltr align=left><SPAN class=317015221-09092008>"Thanks for the
note. The best process is to call 311 to let Parks know, they do not
have a swing or grave personal to observe when a sprinkler has been broke and
really relay on our input. The Water Authority uses a annual water budget
to hold the Parks accountable, as well as fining them if the water runs into the
street. We hope that public turf will encourage individuals to abandon
turf, except small personnel areas, but if public turf isn't being used
effectively then maybe your suggestion is appropriate.</SPAN></DIV>

<P>As with the email from Mr. Grunwald. Well, all I can say is that Nor Este has
only had 1 female President</P>
<P>since 2003 and prior to that I would have to look in the basement of the
Office of the Neighborhood Association. I'm not sure when the next Board
elections are, but could somebody please tell me? I have</P>
<P>observed that the same names appear on the newsletters beginning since 2003
with the same people </P>
<P>on the Board, just different duties assigned. As a female, I did
believe that in 2006 was a decent year when</P>
<P>there was a female President of Nor Este. As a female who studied
Women's Studies in college, it would</P>
<P>be nice to have another female President. Sorta like, why are there
only female bank clerks, but no</P>
<P>are hardly any female bank presidents? The invisible ceiling is
real. No, Mr. Grunwald, people don't suspect</P>
<P>anything in discussing a lush, green grass. I did do some research on
artificial fake grass used on soccer fields and discovered that the Rep. from La
Cueva really did research on artificial grass as the research indicates that
soccer fields are now using artificial grass. I thank the neighbor who
emailed me about also</P>
<P>noticing the water shooting straight up, too. I thank TJ in getting
back to me. It is awful that Nor Este</P>
<P>doesn't have a newsletter. I would think that the amount in the Nor
Este would certainly be enough for a newsletter. In life, there is freedom
of information which the press uses freely. Newsletters are subject</P>
<P>to audits from outside sources as with everything under the Freedom of
Information Act. Keeping members</P>
<P>up to date should be more important than worrying if somebody suspects
something as Mr. Grunwald pointed</P>
<P>out.</P>

Subject: Re: [NENA] xeroscaping the Arroyo Park
Dear NENA Members,
Every time I walk my dog at the Arroyo Park, I enjoy the lush green grass.
My own back and front yard
is xeroscaped, so my dog has a nice place to run around. At the last
Neighborhood Association Meeting,
I asked our President for imput on my idea to get a 200 stipend offered at
the Office of the Neighborhood
Association to improve the area. I was told that if I wanted to be the sole
person to do all the work, then
I could. Well, each day I see the Parks and Rec people out in the Arroyo
Park what the Parks and Rec
people don't see at night is all the water waste at the Arroyo Park. I keep
thinking that somebody is going
to report the water leak that has water shooting up like a rainbow of water
spout about 10 feet in the air.
It has been several months and nobody has reported this disgusting waste of
water. Our President and members of the Board work during the day and don't
have time to help with simple 200 dollar stipend projects.
Society cannot leave it up to Parks and Rec to discover the water sprinkle
system leak where the majority
of water from the leak goes into the Arroyo and not on the grass causing
more times needing to be watered.
It would be a shame to loose the green grass, but the water leak is causing
a terrible leak and waste of water.
I am going to be proposing that the Arroyo Park be xeroscaped with rocks and
a rock garden- no more
green grass. That would mean having to take our dogs to a Dog Park or to the
park on Academy and Eubank where there would be green grass.
It makes no sense to keep funding a water leak. I perhaps am a little bit
more sensitive to water waste
as if not for water being drilled and discovered in 1993, then the area
subdivision would not be developed.
It used to be people had water tanks on their property and had to get water
from trucks delivered to their
property.
Nor Este just like every other Neighborhood Association needs to do their
best at water conservation.
